Alberta Spends

What would you do if you lived in Alberta and you were asked to approve a budget that plans spending of $11,671 per capita? If your household comprises 2 individuals, your household obligation is $23,342; a household of 3 is $35,013; and household of 4 is $46,684. Does your household pay that kind of taxes to Alberta? Even if you directly received a per capita share of oil and gas revenue, would you approve this budget? If not, why do we have it? Following is a list of the per capita costs, per line item, shown in the current budget document. If you had the opportunity to vote, line by line, on all the expenditures, would you approve of all of them? Would you send in sufficient taxes to pay for the expenditures you approve of for your entire household? If not, would you be morally justified in sending out operatives who systematically, and forcefully, take from other individuals who cannot control the budget (or you). Think about it. Are you part of the chorus chanting “force the rich to pay their fair share” when the rich have no hope of managing the costs you help load on them?
Look in the mirror; are you a thief’s accomplice?
Similar situations persist throughout the perceived democracies of the world.
